Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Typing Hunter at 4.6 against Type Run's 4.1. Typing Hunter also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). Type Run's advantage is ratings volume (31K vs 16). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Type Run sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Typing Hunter asks for nothing beyond the download.
Typing Hunter holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Type Run has 31K ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 21% of Type Run's written reviews are positive against 14% of Typing Hunter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Type Run ships an update fortnightly, Typing Hunter every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
