Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Type at 100% against Typing Hunter's 14%. Type also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Typing Hunter's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 3.0) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Typing Hunter holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Typing Hunter has 16 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Typing Hunter's written reviews are positive against 100% of Type's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Typing Hunter ships an update every 5 days, Type every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
