Verdict
The clearest difference is price: ReadKit at Free against Reeder Classic's $4.99. ReadKit also leads on rating (4.3 vs 4.1). Reeder Classic's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 5) and chart position (#5 vs unranked). On review sentiment, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReadKit is free to download; Reeder Classic costs $4.99 up front. ReadKit sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Reeder Classic asks for nothing beyond the download.
ReadKit holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Reeder Classic has 839 ratings behind it against 126, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of Reeder Classic's written reviews are positive against 56% of ReadKit's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Reeder Classic ships an update monthly, ReadKit every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
