Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Applied Client Network at 100% against Garmin Messenger™'s 19%. Applied Client Network also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). Garmin Messenger™'s advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (13K vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
