Ambly is a pocket creature that grows on the exercise you actually do. Your steps and workouts from Apple Health are what make it grow. Every creature is generated from its own seed, so its color, build, eyes, ears, tail and name are yours alone — no two people get the same one. It lives where you already look Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, your Apple Watch face and, if you turn it on, the Dynamic Island while you move. You don't have to open the app for it to grow. No goals, no guilt There are no step targets, no calorie counts and nothing about your body. Your creature never gets sick, never dies and never loses what it grew. A quiet week just makes it sleepy. It notices what you do Walking, running, cycling, swimming and gym sessions all count. Your creature walks when you walk and runs when you run. Start a workout from Ambly on your iPhone, or with one tap on your Apple Watch. A collection over time Start another egg whenever you like. Retired creatures keep everything they grew and stay on your shelf. A buddy at its side Bring along a dog or a cat, from a Shiba Inu or a Corgi to a tabby or a calico. It walks, runs, swims and naps beside your creature, and keeps pace on rides. Ambly is free. Optional one-time purchases let you dress your creature up, bring a buddy along, give it a new look or start another egg.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Ambly at 5.0 against Dash's 3.4. Ambly also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 65%) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 9 days). Dash's advantage is ratings volume (13 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
