Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: ESPN LA at 4.7 against DodgersNation.com's 4.3. ESPN LA also leads on ratings volume (2K vs 93). DodgersNation.com's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 39%) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
ESPN LA holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ESPN LA has 2K ratings behind it against 93, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of DodgersNation.com's written reviews are positive against 39% of ESPN LA's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
DodgersNation.com ships an update every 3 months, ESPN LA every 5 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
