About

575

575 gives you one classical Japanese haiku each day — and the reading behind it. A haiku is short enough to cross a language in seconds, and easy to lose in the crossing. What survives translation is usually the image. What does not is the season it belongs to, the word that carries that season, and the space the poem deliberately leaves empty. 575 keeps those. Each haiku arrives with the original Japanese, its sound in romaji, a plain English reading, and a short piece on how the poem is received in Japan — what is named, what is withheld, and what you are left to finish yourself. Four centuries, 365 poems. Bashō, Issa, Buson, Shiki, and others, chosen so that a year of reading moves with the year itself. WHAT YOU GET FREE • A new haiku every day, with its cultural reading • The full library of 365 poems — by season, poet, mood, nature, and theme • Mood Pick: choose how you feel, and receive a poem that meets it • Save any poem and return to it • Notifications set to daily, three times a week, weekly, seasonal picks only — or off 575 PREMIUM • Deeper cultural reading — the season word, the silence, the poet's own life at the time • Listen in Japanese — the original read aloud, slowly if you prefer, with the romaji lighting up as it goes • My Anthology — collect the poems you keep into your own volumes • Seasonal Rediscovery — once you have read the year through, the poems return with a different way in HOW IT READS No progress bars, no streaks, no badges. Nothing counts how much you have read, and nothing asks you to come back. One poem fills the screen, on paper, in silence. The app is built to be closed after a minute and opened again tomorrow.
