Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Files.com at none against FTP Client's 3. Files.com also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 74%) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.2). FTP Client's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FTP Client sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Files.com asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

FTP Client holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FTP Client has 36 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Files.com's written reviews are positive against 74% of FTP Client's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Files.com ships an update every 5 weeks, FTP Client weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 17, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
