Watch Hill Proper vs Proof & Ash

Members are able to register for events, see and pay club tabs, communicate with other members, and be first to know about special events and happenings. Keeping up with everything that’s going on at Watch Hill Proper has never been easier.

Proof & Ash is a private shelf for your bourbon and a humidor for your cigars, on your iPhone. Point the camera at a bottle or a band. The label is read on your phone and matched to a shared catalog of around a thousand bourbons and cigars, with proof, age, style and the flavors reviewers usually find. If it isn't in the catalog, add it by hand and it lives on your shelf like any other bottle. Log the pour or the smoke in a few taps: a verdict, the flavors you actually got, a note, a photo if you like. Over time the app builds a picture of your palate from your own history, not from scores. TONIGHT One screen that answers the question you have at nine o'clock: what should I open? It leans on what you've loved, what you haven't touched in a while, and what's already open. SHELF AND HUMIDOR Every bottle with how much is left, when you last poured it, and what it cost. Every cigar with a count. Chips for wheated, high rye, barrel proof, bottled-in-bond and the rest, drawn from the catalog's facts rather than guessed from the name. WRITTEN FOR YOU, ON YOUR PHONE On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, the app writes a short note on each bottle and an honest read of your whole shelf, using only your own history. Nothing is sent anywhere. Phones without Apple Intelligence show the facts instead. CAPTIONS When a pour deserves a post, the app drafts a caption from the facts of that pour. Share it wherever you like; the app never posts on its own. YOURS, FULL STOP Your bottles, cigars, notes and photos are stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud, where they follow you to your next phone. There is no account to create, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. The developer cannot see your shelf. FREE, AND RESERVE Free is a real app: up to 15 bottles on the shelf, 10 kinds of cigar in the humidor, 5 label scans, plus manual add, catalog search, pours and smokes, Tonight, and export. Reserve lifts the caps, makes scanning unlimited, and adds Insights, the written note on each bottle and cigar, and drafted captions. Reserve is $3.99 a month, $24.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $59.99 once. Whatever you add is yours on any plan or none: nothing is ever hidden or deleted, and Export builds a zip of everything at any time. Proof & Ash is a record-keeping tool for adults of legal age to buy alcohol and tobacco where they live.
