Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Meshtastic at 4.1 against Sierro's 2.3. Meshtastic also leads on ratings volume (833 vs 3) and device support (5 vs 3). Sierro's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.5). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Meshtastic holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Meshtastic has 833 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Meshtastic's written reviews are positive against 50% of Sierro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
