About

Chainsaw Chain Finder

Features

Chain Finder helps you work out and record the specifications of a chainsaw chain, step by step, and keeps what you verified in one place. MEASURE Measure across three consecutive rivet centres. Pitch is half that distance. Enter the reading in millimetres or inches and say how closely you can read it. Chain Finder shows which of five pitches (1/4, .325, 3/8 standard, 3/8 low-profile and .404) your reading keeps open. COMPARE Every candidate shows its nominal three-rivet distance, how far your reading is from it, and whether it falls within your stated accuracy. Pitches that lie too close to separate with your accuracy are flagged instead of guessed. 3/8 standard and 3/8 low-profile share one pitch, so no rivet measurement can tell them apart. The app says so and points you to the markings or the saw's manual. VERIFY Six checks: pitch, gauge, drive-link count, guide-bar markings, drive sprocket and the maker's specification. Each is marked Verified, Not verified or Conflicting, with its source. A partial match is never presented as proof that a chain fits. MY SAWS Save several saws and several chains per saw. Edit, duplicate, delete with confirmation, add notes and search your records. REPLACEMENT REFERENCE Make a clear sheet with your saw, pitch, gauge, drive-link count, bar markings, sources, date verified, notes and the checks still open. Share it as text or as a PDF. ALSO INCLUDED • Gauge reference and a drive-link counting guide • Glossary of chain terms • Measurement history • Light and dark appearance, iPhone and iPad layouts, VoiceOver and Dynamic Type HONEST BY DESIGN • Works fully offline. No account, no tracking. • Your records stay on your device. • No saw-model database and no replacement part numbers. You enter what you read on your chain, bar and manual. • A match on pitch, gauge and drive-link count does not prove a chain fits every saw or bar. Confirm with the saw maker's specification or a dealer. SAFETY Switch the saw off and secure it as the maker's manual describes before you handle or measure a chain. Chain is sharp. FREE AND FULL VERSION Measuring, comparing, verifying, guides, two saved saws and sharing as text are free. Chain Finder Full is a one-time purchase that adds unlimited saws, PDF reference, search and full history with CSV export. It is not a subscription.
