The light's on for you. Grief doesn't keep office hours. It arrives at 2 a.m., in the grocery aisle, on an ordinary Tuesday. The Light's On is a quiet place to keep the people you've lost close, and something steady to reach for on the days that knock you down. Keep them close Save their stories, photos, recipes, and the things they always said. Record their voice, or your own telling a story about them, and the app writes down what was said so you can read it too. Add as many photos, videos, and documents as you like, with no limits on length or size. Write to them Letters to the person you miss, private unless you choose to share one. Tell them about your day, what you're thankful for, or anything you didn't get to say. Say it out loud if that's easier. Keep what they gave you What you're carrying forward: their lessons, their habits, the way they treated people. Good moments worth saving. Notes written on a lighter day for your future self, shown back to you when things feel heavy. When it's hard "I need a moment" is at the bottom of every screen: slow breathing, gentle words, and a soothing sound if you want one. At night there's a dim, quiet space for when sleep won't come. "Talk to someone" is at the top of every screen, one tap from 988 and from a ready-made message to someone you trust, because it's hard to find words when you need them most. Hard days, handled gently Add birthdays, anniversaries, and the day they died, and choose when to be reminded. The app can help you tell your people what you need before the day arrives, so you're not carrying it alone. Understanding grief 35 short guides written for how grief actually feels: guilt, anger, relief, the friends who go quiet, going back to work, sorting their things, and what helps on the anniversary. Written for adults, with real support organizations one tap away. Memory books Gather whatever you choose into a book, in whatever order you like. Print it, save it as a PDF, or hand it to your family. Made private Everything stays in your own iCloud, synced between your iPhone and iPad. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no account to create. The person who made this app cannot read your memories, letters, or check-ins. You can download a backup of everything at any time, and delete all of it whenever you want. Free, and staying free No purchases, no subscription, no premium version. Grief is expensive enough. I built this after losing my dad, because what I wanted didn't exist: something private, gentle, and there at 2 a.m. I hope it helps you the way making it helped me. The Light's On is made for adults 18 and older. It offers support and general information about grief, not medical or mental health care, and it can't take the place of a doctor or counselor. If you're in crisis or thinking about ending your life, call or text 988 in the US, or call 911 in an emergency.
