About

NAS Music Player

NAS Player plays the music on your Synology NAS: on iPhone and iPad, on the go, offline, and in the car with CarPlay. No subscriptions, no ads, no accounts, no tracking. IMPORTANT: NAS Player only works with a Synology NAS that has the “Audio Station” package installed. Without such a NAS you can try the app in demo mode. YOUR WHOLE LIBRARY AT A GLANCE All albums, artists, genres, and songs in your collection with covers, search, and a letter index for quick jumping. Multi-disc albums show their discs separately. Your iPhone doesn't have to store all your music: songs that are only on the NAS are streamed when needed. LISTEN OFFLINE WHENEVER YOU WANT Download whole albums or all albums by an artist to your iPhone on purpose, with the size shown up front and progress. A storage limit keeps space under control: the app cleans up songs cached while streaming when needed, music you downloaded on purpose stays. IN THE CAR WITH CARPLAY Home with recently played albums and favorites as tiles, the library with cover mixes, playlists, and genres. Without a network the app clearly shows what can be played right now. Plus Siri and Shortcuts: “Play my favorites with NAS Player”. ON IPHONE AND IPAD One app for both devices: on the iPad the interface adapts to the window size, with a sidebar, a two-column album page, and a player with controls on the left and the cover on the right. It also works next to other apps in Split View. Wherever this text says “iPhone”, the same applies on the iPad. CLEAR SYMBOLS One glance shows what is on the iPhone (checkmark), what is partly downloaded, and what is only waiting on the NAS (cloud). Without a network only downloaded songs can be played, the rest is greyed out. COMFORTABLE CONTROLS Favorites for songs, albums, and artists, swiping in lists to download or remove, shuffle and repeat, up next, resuming after a restart. Playback with the screen locked, on the Lock Screen, and with headphones. The app is available in German, English, Czech, Spanish, Italian, and French. FIND YOUR NAS On your home network the app finds your NAS itself and fills in the address. You only add the user name and password. EVERYTHING STAYS WITH YOU The app only connects to your NAS, encrypted via https. The password is stored in your iPhone's keychain. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party libraries. TRY IT WITHOUT A NAS With demo mode you hear sample music that is part of the app and can try everything. REQUIREMENT A Synology NAS with Audio Station installed that can be reached at an https address with a valid certificate (for example via DDNS or on your home network). You provide the NAS and its setup yourself. LEGAL NOTICES NAS Player is an independent app and is not made, supported, sponsored, or reviewed by Synology Inc. Synology, DiskStation, and Audio Station are trademarks or registered trademarks of Synology Inc. They are mentioned here only to describe compatibility. Apple, iPhone, CarPlay, Siri, and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. The demo music in the app is self-generated; with NAS Player you only play music that you own or are allowed to use.
