Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Profesy at 100% against Knowt's 62%. Profesy also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 32) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Knowt's advantage is ratings volume (11K vs 29) and chart position (#110 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Knowt sells 27 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Profesy asks for nothing beyond the download.
Profesy holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Knowt has 11K ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Profesy's written reviews are positive against 62% of Knowt's.
Profesy ships an update every 11 days, Knowt weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
