Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Immich at 4.8 against Photo Export's 3.7. Immich also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 2 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Photo Export sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Immich asks for nothing beyond the download.
Immich holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Immich has 793 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 77% of Immich's written reviews are positive against 80% of Photo Export's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Immich ships an update every 5 days, Photo Export every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
