No more Google Photos
It's the closest thing to a perfect self-hosted replacement for Google Photos. The UI is incredibly snappy, and the facial recognition and search features work surprisingly well. My only real gripe is that iOS background syncing can be a bit finicky—I usually have to actually open the app to get backups to trigger and complete. But once the photos are up there, the experience is stellar. Definitely worth hosting.

Keeps crashing - that’s all folks
Wanted to really like Immich, after reading rave reviews. Out the time in to install the Docker image. But the iOS crashed on me twice. Sorry but that’s not a possible replacement for my Apple Photos app. I’m going to uninstall swiftly.

Es ist echt der Wahnsinn was für eine tolle Software man hier zum selbst hosten bekommt. Endlich kann ich mit meiner Partnerin unsere Urlaubsfotos auf einer Plattform sammeln bei der man nicht das Gefühl hat die Trainingsdaten für irgendein Big Tech Unternehmen zu liefern. Volle Kontrolle über die eigenen Daten und dabei tolle Features wie Gesichtserkennung auf der eigenen Hardware. Alles fühlt sich rund an und mir ist bisher kein Bug begegnet. Macht weiter so, ihr seid einfach super!

Love how I can see all my self hosted photos and videos on the go :) so happy I am off Google Photos. The one thing that is not working for me is the automatic network switching. Otherwise, love the app! Thank you so much!

Destined for Greatness
Fantastic tool. A bit involved to get setup, but still feels accessible to enthusiasts. Will no doubt benefit with further development. It’s a shame that daddy iOS controls background uploads, this is NOT IMMICH’S FAULT.
UI kinda sucks
Adding photos to an album is a two step process. To add photos to an album I first have to directly upload them into Immich. I then have to go to the album, click “add photos” and then go through all the photos to find the ones I just uploaded. Why can’t I upload from my iPhones photo library directly into an album? Why force this two step process. It’s stupid. Even adding photos from my library takes way more clicks than it should. I have to go to library > on this device > click the album. Why? Just put a ‘+’ button at the top of the screen that brings up my iPhones photo library. Why does adding photos in a PHOTO APP take 5 more clicks than it should. It should be 1 click.

Incredible App
Incredible app and ecosystem around it. Many open source tools such as immich frame for digital picture frames or immich go to help bulk import photos.
Personenmanagement verbesserungswürdig
Eine sehr tolle App, macht was es soll. Allerdings wärs gut wenn man die erkannten Personen genau so gut managen könnte, wie auf dem PC. Z.B. kann ich in der App keine Personen zusammenführen und auch nicht neue Gesichter, die nicht erkannt wurden, manuell hinzufügen.
Und noch ein kleines Feature wäre, dass man direkt an den Anfang der Seite kommt, wenn man ganz oben neben der notch auf die uhrzeit oder auf den Akkustand tippt. Das ist eigentlich schon Standard in ios.

Brilliant and Pro!
Finally found Immich after trying many other photo apps for NAS or other self storage. It rivals anything else and deserves a standing ovation! Nothing but a positive experience.

This is such an easy service to set up for yourself, even if you only use it for transferring pictures to your computer.

Gotta say ever since I moved away from cloud photo storage into local self-hosting, I’ve tried many solutions and nothing. NOTHING works as smooth, as clean, as immich.

Not yet there and has many issues
Image preview is very poor when zooming in to any image, if building preview at 100% then it defeats the entire purpose of previews since that will be done for all images. When I look at single images, there is no reason why it shows me only previews. When I then attempt to download the full photo, the download sticks at 100% and never completes. No error message either. Had high hopes but looking unlikely to replace my cloud photos anytime soon…….
