Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: ntfy at none against Readmical's shown. ntfy also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 7 months) and review sentiment (79% vs 50%). Readmical's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Readmical holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ntfy has 488 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of ntfy's written reviews are positive against 50% of Readmical's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ntfy ships an update fortnightly, Readmical every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
