Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Lapse at none against Picnic's 23. Lapse also leads on update cadence (daily vs every 2 weeks) and ratings volume (118K vs 10K). Picnic's advantage is review sentiment (63% vs 42%) and chart position (#83 vs unranked). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Picnic sells 15 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Lapse asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Lapse against 4.8 for Picnic. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lapse has 118K ratings behind it against 10K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 42% of Lapse's written reviews are positive against 63% of Picnic's.
Lapse ships an update daily, Picnic every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
