Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Mellons at 5.0 against UCSC Menu's 4.2. Mellons also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). UCSC Menu's advantage is ratings volume (17 vs 3) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Mellons holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UCSC Menu has 17 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
UCSC Menu ships an update fortnightly, Mellons monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
