Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: SlugMenu at 5.0 against UCSC Menu's 4.2. SlugMenu also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). UCSC Menu's advantage is ratings volume (17 vs 3) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
SlugMenu holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UCSC Menu has 17 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
