Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is monetization model: Password Manager at free with in-app purchases against ID Lock's subscription. Password Manager also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). ID Lock's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. ID Lock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Password Manager sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

ID Lock holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 791 and 752 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of ID Lock's written reviews are positive against 78% of Password Manager's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

ID Lock ships an update every 3 weeks, Password Manager every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
