Lydia is the app for your local music scene. Fans, artists and venues, all in one place. Something changes when they're all in the same app. A coffee shop that has never booked a band can host one this week. A bedroom guitarist can start playing in public. The drummer your band has been missing turns out to live three doors down. And the show you'd never have heard about is right there on your map. FOR ARTISTS AND BANDS Build a profile that's about your music — streaming and social links, genres, where you're based. Apply to venues directly instead of sending cold emails and hoping. Accept invites to bills and keep every upcoming gig in one place. Search artists near you by instrument, genre and location, connect with them, and start a band together — with real admin controls over who's in it. FOR VENUES You don't need booking experience or a promoter's contact list. If you have a room and a night, you can put music in it. Open your venue up to applications and receive applications from local acts. Or browse talent and reach out to the ones you want to play at your spot. Invite the artists and bands you already trust, build the bill, and confirm it — the show goes public the moment you do. FOR FANS See what's on tonight, this weekend or next month on a map of your city. Filter to find the perfect spot. Follow the artists, bands and venues you care about and hear about shows as they're booked. Save the shows you don't want to miss. Lydia is built one scene at a time. If yours isn't on the map yet, it's up to you! Start building it!

Verdict
JamBase and lydia.live both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of lydia.live's written reviews are positive against 55% of JamBase's. JamBase's advantage is ratings volume (1.7K vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for JamBase against 5.0 for lydia.live. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: JamBase has 1.7K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 55% of JamBase's written reviews are positive against 100% of lydia.live's.
JamBase ships an update fortnightly, lydia.live monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
