Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Solitaire Classic at 4.6 against Edgewise's 2.8. Solitaire Classic also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (2.7K vs 5). Edgewise's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (80% vs 52%). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Edgewise sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Solitaire Classic sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Solitaire Classic holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Solitaire Classic has 2.7K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Edgewise's written reviews are positive against 52% of Solitaire Classic's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Edgewise ships an update every 9 months, Solitaire Classic fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on June 5, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
