Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: iDoctor at 5.0 against Number Snap's 4.0. Number Snap's advantage is update cadence (every 9 months vs every 105 months) and review sentiment (50% vs 22%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. iDoctor sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Number Snap sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
iDoctor holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Number Snap has 119 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of iDoctor's written reviews are positive against 50% of Number Snap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
iDoctor ships an update every 105 months, Number Snap every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
