Read full descriptionHide full description
A Bird A Day is a collecting app. For birds. Every day, a new bird appears: beautifully illustrated, named, and paired with its scientific name, real song, and a short fact you will probably end up reading out loud. Each bird joins your flock, and your collection grows one day at a time. Rearrange your birds, revisit old favorites, and watch your flock slowly become its own thing. --- Everyone's collecting the same birds. Yet, you don't know which one shows up tomorrow. You don't know how many there are and your flock isn't like anyone else's. You might meet a Pileated Woodpecker on day 3. Your friend might not see one until October. Inside the app > A new bird every day > Handcrafted illustrations > Real bird songs from field recordings > Short facts with a bit of charm > A collection that keeps growing Unlocking all the birds (paid) gives you: > A new bird each day for a year > Gift a bird to a friend (who also has the app) including a personal note > Add your favorite bird to your homescreen widget Widgets > Put the Bird of the Day on your home screen. > Show your growing flock as a widget. > Or, with the paid unlock, choose a favorite bird to keep on your home screen. Paid unlock - Start with a 7-day trial. - After that, no new birds appear unless you unlock them. The paid unlock includes: > new birds every day beyooooond the trial > gifting birds to friends with a personal note > the favorite bird widget --- No ads. No subscription. Just birds.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Duck at none against A Bird A Day's 1. Duck also leads on device support (3 vs 1). A Bird A Day's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 months). On price, ads and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
