Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is update cadence: Home Assistant at every 10 days against Indigo Touch's every 7 months. Home Assistant also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and ratings volume (4.1K vs 143). Indigo Touch's advantage is review sentiment (82% vs 54%) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Home Assistant holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Home Assistant has 4.1K ratings behind it against 143, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 82% of Indigo Touch's written reviews are positive against 54% of Home Assistant's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Indigo Touch ships an update every 7 months, Home Assistant every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
