Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: mewe at none against Tapatalk's shown. mewe also leads on ratings volume (294K vs 16K). Tapatalk's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tapatalk sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per month and mewe sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Tapatalk against 4.4 for mewe. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mewe has 294K ratings behind it against 16K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 49% of Tapatalk's written reviews are positive against 44% of mewe's.
Tapatalk ships an update every 2 weeks, mewe every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 29, 2026.
