FAQs Q: Where can I find these stations online? A: Each of the stations are run independently and have their own online presence. There are several online directories where you can find the stations featured in the app. Q: Why does the music occasionally skip? A: When songs are skipping, it is often because 1) that station's server has recently been reset or 2) the internet isn't filling the audio buffer fast enough. Usually these issues are resolved with faster internet, changing to a new station, or they resolve on their own after the server resets. Q: Why are some stations blank at times? A: Some of these stations are controlled by real DJs and if they aren't playing anything at the time or their site is down no music will play. Fortunately we have a variety of channels so you will always have a lot to choose from. For more information, including Terms of Service & Privacy Policy, visit myindieapp.com. Thanks for listening! Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Relax Radio at 94% against Smooth Player's 67%. Relax Radio also leads on ratings volume (1.2K vs 72) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Smooth Player's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Smooth Player holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Relax Radio has 1.2K ratings behind it against 72, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Smooth Player's written reviews are positive against 94% of Relax Radio's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Smooth Player ships an update monthly, Relax Radio every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
