Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Google Voice at 4.3 against S1 Timer's 1.8. Google Voice also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (62K vs 19). S1 Timer's advantage is review sentiment (38% vs 14%) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Google Voice holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 1.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Google Voice has 62K ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 14% of Google Voice's written reviews are positive against 38% of S1 Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Google Voice ships an update weekly, S1 Timer every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
