Identity verification problem
I took a picture of my DL and made sure it is very clear. But the app is saying my identity cannot be verified. My DL info and the Google info are all the same. I have been using google and gmail for years. I applied the verification code sent to my phone and I can’t still get verified. Now, it’s not giving me option to attempt again. There’s no means of contacting anyone from Google in the help center.

Requesting personal information should be illegal
Asking for my government ID is illegal and Google should learn to mind it’s business and don’t give me the for your security nonsense I’ll be deleting and Google app that requests any government identification F off!!!!

Great, but…
…for those of us who upgraded to the starter package, can’t we get RCS functionality? I’m failing to see the benefit of the upgrade just yet. Otherwise no complaints about this great service.
App is falling behind
Two substantial problems with this app:
1) poor call quality with moderate or weak cell signals. FaceTime audio does a MUCH better job maintaining a good connection when you don’t have 5 bars.
2) total lack of CarPlay support. No reading of text messages. No way to send messages.
It’s not up to 2026 standards.

ID verification seriously?
I’ve had GV for years. Now suddenly it’s asking for ID verification even though it’s already connected to my personal number and email both of which I’ve had for over a decade. Googles always implementing new ways to collect your data, refuse it and try a different platform.
Edit: no the FCC has admitted a proposal and not final regulation asking for IDs however the KYC document does ask that VOIP “take affirmative action” and “Voice service providers can comply in a number of ways, so long as they know their customers and take measures that have the effect of actually restricting the ability of new and renewing customers to originate illegal traffic.” So no, I can not find anywhere the FCC states it’s mandatory to request ID.

This app is garbage! Huge delays in getting a text, and in any communication. Why would I use this for my business if this is not reliable?! Fire the current developers and hire ones who are willing to fix it!
URGENT: last update
EDIT: it FINALLY loaded in background after over 5 minutes. All other apps were closed. Going to hope it’s a temporary glitch on the network. If it continues tonight, I’ll be back. If it clears up, I’ll edit review. Sorry, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who depends on this app.

Ad delivery system
Used to be a great app and service. Now it displays popup ads.
Mandatory identification
They claim voice carriers have to identify the client as per FCC rules. Why then can I walk into Walmart and buy a burner phone with no identification?
Practically Useless
Google Voice doesn’t ring on Apple Watch so I always miss calls and texts. Sometimes they’re important and I need to receive them right away and I’m constantly missing them. It’s practically useless for me. I hope Google fixes this and makes it work with Apple Watch soon.
A gem of an app
Google Voice is a life saver for a frequent traveler or for someone who lives overseas, and it’s a money saver back in the USA because you only need internet. It’s my favorite app.
