Nutrients Canada brings the Canadian Nutrient File to the iPhone and iPod Touch. The application includes the full contents of the database (2015) prepared by Health Canada. Health Canada description of the CNF: "The Canadian Nutrient File (CNF) is a comprehensive, computerized bilingual database that reports up to 152 nutrients in over 5690 foods. The database can help you find values for nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, protein, energy, fat and many more, and is updated periodically." Nutrients Canada displays the contents of the database in a convenient hierarchical fashion and provides a search feature (global or within groups). Clicking on a specific food item will bring up a details page enabling you to obtain actual nutrient contents for common servings or packaging. The actual nutritional information is displayed in a familiar format that mimics the Canadian nutritional value label regulations. Favorite foods can be bookmarked for quick access while users owning a compatible device and printer can print out nutritional labels. --- Nutrients Canada was featured in Episode 47 of KinFit (www.kinfit.tv), a fitness podcast.

Keenoa is a photo food diary. It is used in nutrition research and by people working with a dietitian. Logging a meal • Take a photo. If the suggestion is right, tap it. If not, search or scan. Then confirm. • You can also copy a meal you already logged. • Choose portions with visual guides. Your diary • See each day as a list or a photo grid. • Nutrients are not shown unless your dietitian turns them on. • Add a note about the meal. Hunger, thirst, and fullness appear only if your diary includes those questions. • Reminders help you remember to log. • If you are offline, your meals are kept and sent when you are back online. Sharing • If you are in a study, sign in with Apple, then enter the 6-digit participant ID from your research team. If you already have an account, enter that ID from your profile. • If you work with a dietitian, your diary is shared only after you accept their invitation. You can exchange comments. Your data • A dietitian sees your diary only after you accept their invitation. A research team sees it after you enter your participant ID. • From your profile, you can revoke that access. They keep your information from before you revoke, and they no longer see anything new. You can delete your account in Settings. Available in English and French, in light and dark mode.

Nutrients Canada's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.1) and iOS requirement (11.4 vs 16.4). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
