Both are free to download. PD Maps Worldwide Edition sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. MapCompass asks for nothing beyond the download.
MapCompass holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PD Maps Worldwide Edition has 384 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 29% of PD Maps Worldwide Edition's written reviews are positive against 0% of MapCompass's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
PD Maps Worldwide Edition ships an update fortnightly, MapCompass every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
