Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: iCColors at 100% against Rain Bird's 31%. iCColors also leads on iOS requirement (10.0 vs 13.0). Rain Bird's advantage is price (Free vs $0.99) and rating (4.7 vs 3.9). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Rain Bird is free to download; iCColors costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Rain Bird holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rain Bird has 79K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of iCColors's written reviews are positive against 31% of Rain Bird's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
iCColors ships an update every 37 months, Rain Bird every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
