Sprinkler controller

Connection is slow at times but it does the job. Not sure about the updated app hadn’t switched yet the reviews are that great

SLOW

all these reviews appeared to be fake. I’ve been using this app for almost 2 years. It’s the slowest thing ever has so many problems can only connect at a low frequency and takes forever to load and do anything whenever you want do something else you have to completely start over most of the time. The code is not optimized whatsoever. They told me they were releasing another one to support the controller that I have on android a year and a half ago and still nothing. zero clue where all these people that are giving these high reviews are coming from. They’re not using the same app I’m using in fact they’re probably not using the app at all and we’re just hired to write reviews.

Terrible app

Doesn’t respond, super slow. Loses connectivity constantly. Doesn’t make logical sense… basically, useless but you’re forced into it if you have their controller.

Rain Bird

It’s been a great option, to operate away from home! We love it!

Antique

The app is okay. The rain bird system is an antique system.
It’s slow. It lacks basic features like skip irrigation if it’s rained. It doesn’t give you heads up of an upcoming watering. The whole set up looks like a system from twenty years ago

Flaky and inscrutable

Our controller is in the garage about 30 feet away from the nearest Wi-Fi router and through two walls. It can take 5 to 15 minutes to finally make the connection from the app to the controller through numerous error messages. Just trying to connect to the controller is a nightmare. The icons in this app are impossible to figure out, so you’re going to try one icon then back up, try a different icon back up try another one. Meanwhile, the controller will time out and lose connection and you start the process all over again. It can sometimes take 30 minutes just to run one cycle of the sprinklers off schedule. I would much rather have a list of plain English hyperlinks to click on rather than a raindrop icon, whose meaning is impossible to know. The seasonal adjustment: I set it to 10% assuming that meant it would adjust all the times by 10%, but what it did instead was to shorten everything by 90%. The correct setting is 110%. That’s just a simple example of the difficulty in understanding this app. It needs a lot more plain English and instructions. This coming from a software developer / website developer with 50 years of experience.

Error messages do not come in the app

If you have an error on one of the valves, it will display on the unit but nit in the app. Having the app is so you don’t have to e to go to the unit. Huge gap guys.

It’s…okay

The program works but some features are missing or lacking. The “skip next” button takes you to the program edit page when you’d expect it to adjust the next scheduled day one cycle later. I think I have the timer set to watch my weather yet the sprinklers run while it’s raining. I could have that set wrong, but it’s either not intuitive or broken. You can’t disable a program that I’ve found. Every program has to have a running day so you can’t save a seasonal program and disable it when you’re not using it.

App terrible

So little thought went into the design of this app. As a digital product manager who does this, I’d be ashamed of this. Also the connectivity of the WiFi module is BAD!

Buggy, slow and horrible connectivity

Horrible connectivity even with a dedicated strong 2.4 GHZ connection. Often the app never even connects to the device, it’s ridiculous. Shocking that RainBird still hasn’t come up with a better functioning app yet.

My latest issue with the app is that it has changed all of my scheduled time duration settings and I had no idea. I always use the adjustment % slider to increase or decrease the duration per zone depending on the temperature and season. Yet the app randomly changed my master settings, so instead of a station running at adjusted 40% length of my programmed 20 minutes (which would equate to 8 minutes), it changed the master setting(s) per zone to only 8 minutes and then still is scheduled to run at 40% adjustment of that…about 3 minutes per zone!

Why would the app change all my presets!?!?

Controller Problem

Difficult and slow to connect

WiFi Issues

My unit is showing full strength WiFi signal but connecting via the app is so hit and miss. It usually times out and connects maybe one in ten times. Very frustrating. It says the signal strength is good when I’m connected and my router is 2.4ghz. The app itself is great once connected.

Lent, très lent

Très lent à la connexion et à la prise en compte des instructions depuis le téléphone. Même avec un réseau wifi optimal. Il vaut mieux aller directement à la centrale. Du coup, la gestion à distance n’est pas fun.

Cloud based control

I have a hard time getting this to run manually. I set the zone for the amount that I want, then I get the “loading” wheel of death till it quits. I had the previous version that wasn’t cloud base and controlled it perfectly. Don’t want the cloud, don’t care for it. Give me an option to check out of the cloud to run my controller cloudless.

Works well

WiFi control and configuration is great. The weather reporting on the app and for five day forecast is way off. Reporting 10 degrees colder (hi and low.)than AccuWeather for my area zip 84093. What is wrong with the weather for Sandy Utah it reports rain delay when Accuweather has no rain forecast.

Excellent Control

This summer I have been in Colorado and Arkansas and have been able to seasonally adjust my Texas controller runtimes from my phone to compensate for the excessive heat and dryness. Neighbor’s lawns look like straw; mine maintained its golf course green appearance. Thank you Rain Bird!

Trash app

The app takes forever to connect, drops connection, and keeps lagging. There is no further development to bug fixing.

Works

It works and if you like watching the spinning wheels of doom. Overall it works but it’s just slow.

WiFi Connection Unstable

The WiFi on the LNK2WIFI module is unstable. It has a hard time connecting and frequently loses connection while I’m in the app. I’m using it paired with the ESP-TM2 12-station controller.
