Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Storm Shield at Free against iDamage's $2.99. Storm Shield also leads on rating (4.8 vs 3.4) and update cadence (weekly vs every 4 months). iDamage's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (68% vs 38%). On in-app purchases, monetization model and chart position there is nothing between them.

Storm Shield is free to download; iDamage costs $2.99 up front. iDamage sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Storm Shield sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Storm Shield holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Storm Shield has 114K ratings behind it against 37, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of iDamage's written reviews are positive against 38% of Storm Shield's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
iDamage ships an update every 4 months, Storm Shield weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
