Checkers is a game for 2 players. The players sit on opposite sides of the checkerboard, and position their 12 pieces on the 12 closest dark squares. One player has 12 pieces of one color, the other player has pieces of another color. The player with the darker pieces moves first. Play then alternates between the 2 players. A piece can move diagonally one square toward the opposite side of the board only. If the opponent’s piece is blocking, and the diagonal square beyond is free, a piece is allowed to jump over the opponent’s piece to the 2nd diagonal square and remove the opponent’s piece from the board. From the landing square of the jump, if an additional jump is possible, the player may continue with a 2nd jump. If a player is able to jump and capture an opponent’s piece, the rules require that the jump be made. However, in Settings in this app, this rule can be turned off. When a player’s piece arrives on the furthest forward row of squares (the opponent’s side of the board), the piece gets crowned and can then move or jump in any direction diagonally. The game ends when one player has lost all his pieces or is unable to move.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Checkers at Free against Color Tap Plus's $1.99. Checkers also leads on rating (4.7 vs 2.9) and ratings volume (127 vs 8). Color Tap Plus's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 10 months). On review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Checkers is free to download; Color Tap Plus costs $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Checkers holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Checkers has 127 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Checkers's written reviews are positive against 56% of Color Tap Plus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Checkers ships an update every 10 months, Color Tap Plus every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
