Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Chess Problems Lite at none against Daily Chess Puzzles's 3. Chess Problems Lite also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (83% vs 65%). Daily Chess Puzzles's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 7 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Daily Chess Puzzles holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Daily Chess Puzzles has 441 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Chess Problems Lite's written reviews are positive against 65% of Daily Chess Puzzles's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Chess Problems Lite ships an update every 7 months, Daily Chess Puzzles every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
