Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is price: Beat Station at Free against iAmDrums's $3.99. Beat Station also leads on ratings volume (498 vs 15) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 3 months). iAmDrums's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.5). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Beat Station is free to download; iAmDrums costs $3.99 up front. iAmDrums sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Beat Station sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

iAmDrums holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Beat Station has 498 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 58% of iAmDrums's written reviews are positive against 64% of Beat Station's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

iAmDrums ships an update every 3 months, Beat Station every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
