Enjoy playing Chess every night of the week with Chess Knight Go! Play against the computer with 4 AI levels or 2 players against a friend. Chess is a board game played between two players. It is played on a chessboard, which is a square-checkered board with 64 squares arranged in an eight-by-eight grid. At the beginning of the game each player controls sixteen pieces: one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. The object of the game is to checkmate the opponent's king, whereby the king is under immediate attack (in "check") and there is no way to remove or defend it from attack on the next move. Features: - Both one and two player modes. - Fun AI with 4 levels (easy, medium, hard and expert). - Great background music and sounds. - Universal version supports iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad devices. We hope you enjoy Chess Knight Go!

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: eChess at 100% against Chess Knight Go's 52%. Chess Knight Go's advantage is rating (3.9 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (83 vs 4). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chess Knight Go sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and eChess sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Chess Knight Go holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess Knight Go has 83 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 52% of Chess Knight Go's written reviews are positive against 100% of eChess's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
