Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Expresso at 4.7 against RTP Notícias's 3.2. Expresso also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (58 vs 17). RTP Notícias's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and review sentiment (52% vs 24%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Expresso sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. RTP Notícias asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Expresso holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 58 and 17 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of Expresso's written reviews are positive against 52% of RTP Notícias's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Expresso ships an update monthly, RTP Notícias every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 1, 2026 respectively.
