Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Handbook at 100% against Google Cloud's 29%. Handbook also leads on rating (4.0 vs 3.4) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Google Cloud's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (105 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Handbook holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.4. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Handbook's written reviews are positive against 29% of Google Cloud's.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Handbook ships an update every 2 months, Google Cloud weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
