Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: MSR Control at 3.5 against DTMF Dial's 1.0. MSR Control also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 27 months) and ratings volume (53 vs 5). DTMF Dial's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and review sentiment (43% vs 11%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

MSR Control holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MSR Control has 53 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of DTMF Dial's written reviews are positive against 11% of MSR Control's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

DTMF Dial ships an update every 27 months, MSR Control every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
