Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Icedrive at 69% against OpenDrive's 15%. Icedrive also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). OpenDrive's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.3). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OpenDrive sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Icedrive sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
OpenDrive holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 43 and 46 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of OpenDrive's written reviews are positive against 69% of Icedrive's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
OpenDrive ships an update every 2 months, Icedrive every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 8, 2026 respectively.
