Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: GenomeCache at 44% against CampusGroups's 12%. GenomeCache also leads on iOS requirement (11 vs 15.1). CampusGroups's advantage is ratings volume (5.3K vs 5) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
CampusGroups holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CampusGroups has 5.3K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of GenomeCache's written reviews are positive against 12% of CampusGroups's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
GenomeCache ships an update every 3 months, CampusGroups every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
