Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Writing Wizard at $13.99 against Choiceworks's $29.99. Writing Wizard also leads on ratings volume (3.3K vs 297) and review sentiment (90% vs 81%). Choiceworks's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 4 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.3). On ads, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Choiceworks costs $29.99 and Writing Wizard $13.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Choiceworks holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Writing Wizard has 3.3K ratings behind it against 297, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 81% of Choiceworks's written reviews are positive against 90% of Writing Wizard's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Choiceworks ships an update every 2 days, Writing Wizard every 4 months. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
