PA Speed Calc simply takes the speed limit and driver speed to calculate the dollar amounts for the various blocks on a Pennsylvania Traffic Citation when citing PA Title 75 (Vehicle Code) § 3362 Maximum Speeds. There is also a copy of § 3362 inside the application for reference while on a traffic stop. This app was developed by a Pennsylvania police officer. Turning the Double Fines switch ON doubles the FINE. Turning the Costs switch OFF makes COSTS $0.00. This would be used if you are issuing multiple traffic citations at the same time to one defendant and the speeding citation was not the one with the costs on it. If the end-user never goes into iPhone --> Settings --> PA Speed Calc to set the yearly costs for Pennsylvania Traffic Citations then it will default to $45.50 which is the amount for 2023. The end-user may change this value at any time for future years 2025, 2026, etc. Please use our support page to send us any feedback, suggestions, corrections, bugs, etc. Thank you and be safe out there!

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: PA Speed Calc at 89% against eCode Search's 36%. PA Speed Calc also leads on chart position (#193 vs unranked) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 13.4). eCode Search's advantage is price (Free vs $0.99) and rating (4.7 vs 3.8). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

eCode Search is free to download; PA Speed Calc costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
eCode Search holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: eCode Search has 689 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 89% of PA Speed Calc's written reviews are positive against 36% of eCode Search's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
PA Speed Calc ships an update every 9 months, eCode Search every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
