Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Snapsie at 72% against Weight Gurus's 22%. Snapsie also leads on monetization model (free vs ad-supported) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 18.0). Weight Gurus's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.0) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 6 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Weight Gurus holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Weight Gurus has 1K ratings behind it against 46, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of Weight Gurus's written reviews are positive against 72% of Snapsie's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Weight Gurus ships an update every 2 months, Snapsie every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
