Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Google Cloud at none against Rainbow's 9. Google Cloud also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (105 vs 5). Rainbow's advantage is rating (3.6 vs 3.4) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Rainbow sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Google Cloud asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Rainbow holds the better App Store score, 3.6 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Google Cloud has 105 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 20% of Rainbow's written reviews are positive against 29% of Google Cloud's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Rainbow ships an update every 2 months, Google Cloud weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
