100 Board Counting Patterns vs Number Line, by MLC

Ages 3-6. Numbers and Patterns naturally go hand in hand. This app will help your child to visualize the sequencing of numbers, thus helping them build a firm foundation for mathematics. Activities like this were used by Manel Wickremasinghe for her Montessori students in the 1970s. Of course, it was done with paper and colored pencils back then! Today Manel is happy to bring this concept for children to practice number sequencing via the iPad. It is one of our most popular math apps in the App Store! In this extension of the Hundred Board children can assemble patterns by identifying the correct numbers as they are heard aloud. The app is very easy to follow: 1. Choose an activity from the Home Page. 2. Touch the large speaker button to hear the next number required to assemble the pattern. 3. Touch that number on the Hundred Board and the colored square will transfer to the board to assemble the pattern. 4. Your score will appear at the bottom. Number pattern exercises help children reinforce their ability to identify numbers and their sequence. Activities like this are often created by Montessori teachers when children need help with these concepts. Number Line helps students visualize number sequences and demonstrate strategies for counting, comparing, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Choose number lines labelled with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, or negative numbers. Or use a blank number line, with or without tick marks. Describe intervals between points on the line using forward or backward jumps above and below the line. Jumps can be labelled with their values or left blank. Add custom tick marks to the number line to show equivalence or compare number values. Show strategies with drawing and annotation tools. Hide elements of the sequence shown on the number line, which challenges students to use what they know about number relationships and computation to identify those missing elements.
