Archimedes is the graphing calculator reinvented for the 21st century. It’s much simpler yet more powerful, made with attention to the tiniest detail. FORMULA LIBRARY (PRO) Archimedes is one of the first calculators to feature an inbuilt formula library. It’s as simple as picking a formula and filling in the variables. The answer is calculated automatically, and even units are fully supported. PLOTTING (PRO) Intersecting, integrating and finding derivatives should be intuitive and straightforward. Archimedes lets you interact directly with plots and makes it all as easy as dragging your fingers across the screen. EQUATIONS Archimedes is backed by a powerful mathematical engine. Equations are solved automatically and can be shown in both exact and numeric form, and even systems of equations are supported. Developed by Patrick Pijnappel & Niels Andriesse

Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Archimedes Calculator at none against Mathfuns's shown. Archimedes Calculator also leads on ratings volume (68 vs 10). Mathfuns's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and review sentiment (100% vs 80%). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Archimedes Calculator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Mathfuns sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Mathfuns holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Archimedes Calculator has 68 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of Archimedes Calculator's written reviews are positive against 100% of Mathfuns's.
Archimedes Calculator ships an update every 5 weeks, Mathfuns every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
